Artists

Here's a directory of all the artists currently featured on the website. Any artists open for bespoke commissions are listed first, in alphabetical order.

Elena (commissions open)

Elena Blanco works with watercolours and ink to create dreamy, evocative paintings and illustrations. She engages with the unpredictable nature of her media in a receptive, playful way, merging technical skills with intuition.

A lover of storytelling, Elena draws inspiration from literature, cinema, and dreams. She infuses her scenes with an ethereal quality, inviting viewers into open-ended exploration and encouraging them to find personal resonance within her images.

Elena is training for ordination in the Triratna Western Buddhist order. She draws a lot of inspiration from her Dharma practice and her Buddhist Sangha in Brixton, South London and she frequently organises exhibitions and workshops to share her work.

Elena views art and Dharma practice as two facets of the same search of freedom, believing they are most meaningful when shared with others. She is currently working on her first graphic novel.

Hartley (commissions open)

Hartley is a filmmaker by trade and runs a video strategy and production business called Nightingale Films. He has worked on various film projects for the movement over the years. In 2024 he created Portraits of Samādhi, a photographic series of people in meditation. The series was exhibited at Buddhafield and the Bristol Buddhist Centre, and is now available in a photobook.

Hartley has always loved to draw and paint, too, and his Dharma practice brings an increasing level of meaning and scope to his artwork. He is excited about the potential to create more pieces for the Sangha.

Alice

Alice has loved art ever since being small and never grew out of using it for play and expression, working with a whole variety of mediums: paint, watercolour, animation, video and more. She loves drawing her surroundings as a way to just be in the moment, and is invigorated by how dynamic the imagination can be when combined into Buddhist Practice.

Alice really believes art has the power to open us up spiritually and is a way to connect to the transcendental, a way beyond the self.

Trish

From an early age Trish loved to paint. But now paints in acrylic usually on canvas, or sometimes on slate or stone. She feels that the Buddha’s teachings not only have to be heard and practiced but also felt. When paint Buddhist imagery she is expressing an interpretation of a teaching through art.  It gives a feeling of connectedness  to the subject of the painting. It is also a form of meditation because when painting  - nothing else matters. Trish gets totally absorbed. Hours just disappear.
